Senior citizens in Longview celebrate another 'Senior Prom'

Thursday, February 13, 2014 - 12:39am

Residents at Whispering Pines Lodge in Longview got the chance to relive their senior prom with music from their high school days.

Partnering with Southern Care Hospice, the lodge put on a Valentine's Day themed prom, where the ladies and gentlemen got to dance and sing to songs from yester-year.

Other area hospices bought gowns for the women and jackets and ties for the men so they could look their best for the party.

They even named a prom king and queen.

James Mooney, originally from Oklahoma won king, even though he says he didn't know the party was going to happen until a few minutes before it started.

And 103 year old Clara Kessler won prom queen in a runaway.

It was a great time had by all, and according to Whispering Pine's Neely Dodson, a time well deserved.

Dodson says seeing the residents have a good time touches a special place in his heart, and hopes to make this a yearly tradition.
