Senior Extravaganza Brings Music and Fun to Longview rec center

The City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department and the Green Street Recreation Center will host the 32nd Annual Senior Citizens Extravaganza on Saturday, August 18, 2012. This year’s theme will be “Round-up at the Green Street Corral.” The event, which includes a meal and variety show, will take place at the Longview Exhibit Building, 1123 Jaycee Dr.

The program includes local entertainers, Green Street Recreation Center members, door prizes, music, food, and much more. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., the meal will be served from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m., and the program will begin at 5:00 p.m.

The Extravaganza is open to the public. Advanced tickets may be purchased for $6 from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, at the Green Street Recreation Center, 814 S. Green St. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the event for $7 at the Longview Exhibit Building.

Local businesses, home health care agencies, retirement centers, and assisted living centers help sponsor the program. Additional sponsors are still needed. All sponsors will be recognized during the event.

LaDaughn Weaver, long time member of GSRC, stated “Being in the extravaganza is like letting the child in us all come out to play. We bring smiles to the faces of all who attend. It is food, fun, laughter, and of course, door prizes!”
