For those living in a nursing center, getting up to visit their loved ones anytime they wish hasn't been an option, until now.

Social media is now giving them a chance to see their grandchildren grow, even when they're miles and miles away.

Lucy Rothschild, a resident at Providence Park in Tyler, has four children, seventeen grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, and says social media, helps her keep up with them all.

She is just one of many, who have benefited from the center's one on one computer training, which allows everyone to stay connected.

Director of wellness Nykole Kafka says she has seen a noticeable difference in the demeanor of the residents since they've been able to use the internet.

"They're brighter and they're excited and they just can't wait to tell all the staff about my new grand baby and what my families doing" said Kafka.

Nothing can replace visiting with someone face to face, but during those periods apart, now you can still be connected.

"It's fantastic, it's fantastic i don't know how we did without it." said Rothschild.
