One fitness program called Silver Sneakers in Jacksonville is transforming the lives of many seniors. Most of them have some sort of physical challenge, but together, they're pushing through it, and feeling better in the long run. "They've just been at home using the remote control, and they haven't been up moving," said Judy Batton, head instructor. Movement, is what the fitness program motivates seniors to do. Batton helps seniors trade in their walking canes for running shoes. "Some of the ones that have come in have been able to get off of their medicine," said Batton

The class helps older adults get control back of their bodies. "It really means my life, its getting my life back," said Robbi Nuss, a participant of the program. Nuss joined the workout group just six months ago with her mother after a life-altering surgery. "I had a pneumonectomy, which is a lung removal, and this is part of my recovery," said Nuss. With a smile on her face, Nuss said this program has given her a new breath of life, and she "found that it really did help and I'm breathing better, and my muscle is coming back, and I'm stronger now and this class has really been beneficial to me." Even though it can sometimes be a challenge, she said its always worth it. "I always walk out of here saying, that was such a good workout, and I'm so glad I came," said Nuss.

Batton said that Nuss is one of many success stories that walks out of the class, and "its amazing what this program does for people." For more information on how to get involved, and if your insurance covers Silver Sneakers, click here.
