Every Thanksgiving The Salvation Army hosts a luncheon for people in the community. From balloon animals to a band, they were doing their best to host what they called "a joyous celebration." Adolph Aguirre, Corps assistant, said, "We provide a meal to our community and the people staying in our shelter, were expecting over 1000 people to come and just have a thanksgiving dinner." He says he best part is seeing everyone happy, because he understands the trials they've been through. "They have a time when they can meet and greet people at the table and get to know somebody else and just kind of build that relationship," said Aguirre. Volunteers agree they take time out of their day just to make the people smile. One volunteer, David Heny, "We're just trying to give back and kind of just be there for everybody else."

Dillards department store in Tyler sent over a group of women to give out scarves, gloves and even makeovers! One volunteer told us how important it is for her generation to get involved with non-profit organizations. Volunteers say, even though the room was filled with people from all different paths of life, coming together for a Thanksgiving meal, made them all feel like family.
