High winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes possible
Tyler (KETK) — The same storm system that caused devastation to our neighbors to the north will be moving into East Texas by Tuesday afternoon.
Showers and storms are expected to develop west of the East Texas area by midday and into the early afternoon. As the storms move into East Texas, they will encounter very warm, very moist air, which will fuel development. Some storms are expected to become strong to severe this afternoon.
The main threat with these storms will be high winds, large hail, and unfortunately, isolated tornadoes can not be ruled out.
By evening, the thunderstorms are expected to form a squall line that will still cause damaging winds and large hail. However, as the storms become more linear, the tornadic threat will decrease.
East Texas is under a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms from the Storm Predicition Center.
