Nacogdoches, Texas (KETK) — Stephen F. Austin University has canceled the unveiling of their new logo Wednesday.
According to Public Affairs and Marketing Executive Director Shirley Luna, the ceremony set for today was nixed because of "bad timing." The university did not want to take away from the recent success of the men's basketball team, said Luna.
The Lumberjacks recently made history with a 31-2 (18-0) season and its first NCAA tournament win over Virginia Commonweatlh University.
SFA will still move forward with the new advertising campaign slated to begin on March 31, said Luna. The new logo will be a part of the campaign, however, the logo will not be released for redistribution until the logo is licensend. The date for an approved licensed is unknown at this time.
A photo of the possible logo was leaked on social media Wednesday morning, which was met by backlash from fans and alumni, however, the picture could not be confirmed.
