Nacogdoches, TX — About 60 professionals nationwide are at Stephen F. Austin State University this week to receive training on counter-cyberterrorism tactics, said Jon Armstrong, assistant director of telecommunications and networking.
“I’m hearing the people are getting a lot of good information. They hit the ground running first-thing on Monday morning,” he said. “I’ve been talking to security specialists here and some of my staff, and we’re trying to get an idea on what the cyber-threat landscape is like.”
The training, which includes separate classes on prevention and recovery and incident handling and response, is administered by the Cyberterrorism Defense Initiative with FEMA.
SFA agreed to host the five-day training following a nine-month dialogue with the University of Arkansas System, Armstrong said.
