An 11-year-old boy in Henderson County had to be rushed to a local hospital after he was accidentally shot by another child Thursday afternoon.

According to Henderson County Chief Deputy Botie Hillhouse, at 1:37 p.m., the sheriff's office received a report of a shooting in the 14000 block of FM 59 in the Cross Roads area. When authorities arrived on scene, they learned a child had an apparent gunshot wound and was conscious. He was taken to a hospital in Athens and is expected to be moved to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

Guns in the home...guns not secured...parents lazy...children curious...without guns in the home or guns secured safely away from children, curious children will find guns (they're very resourceful when left alone, and, even with warnings from parents, will do positively stupid things unsupervised) and these accidents will continue to gun worshipers need not bash me...there is a wounded child in the hospital and an accidental shooter who will never shut up!!
