Shots fired at Broadway Square Mall in Tyler, one person injured by vehicle

TYLER — UPDATE: TYLER POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE
Aggravated Assault at 4601 S. Broadway
On 05-11-2011 at approximately 6:46pm the Tyler Police Department received several calls in reference to someone shooting in the Broadway Square Mall parking lot. This prompted an emergency response of multiple Tyler Police Department patrol units. At the scene, officers located a single black male victim, 26 year old Kevin Williams of Tyler. Williams related that he was in the parking lot of the mall near the main entrance speaking with a black male acquaintance. He related that the individual was trying to sell him some Xanax. A scuffle ensued at which time the suspect produced a handgun and fired a single round at Mr. Williams. Mr. Williams was not hit. As the suspect attempted to flee the scene, he struck Mr. Williams with his car. Mr. Williams had several abrasions on his hands and knees and complained of back pain. Mr. Williams was transported to East Texas Medical Center for treatment. There were no other injuries or property damage located. Detectives were called in to continue the investigation.
Suspect is a black male 25-30 years of age, dark skin, jail house tattoos on arms. Short black hair, goatee, 5’5” to 5’06”, 175 pounds. Left in a maroon Cadillac or Town Car 4-door, clean.
