Backers of Space City bid bitterly disappointed by decision
Houston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; Space City lost out to the east and west coasts Tuesday as NASA announced the museums to which it will award space shuttles after retiring the fleet this summer.
The space agency opted to place the shuttles in locations — Washington, D.C.; New York City, Los Angeles and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida - where it believes the greatest number of people could see the spacecraft.
Backers of Space Center Houston's bid to acquire a shuttle for display in Clear Lake were bitterly disappointed by the decision.
