On Tuesday Tyler resident Skip Ogle announced that he would run for State Representative for House District 6 against incumbent State Representative Matt Schaefer (R-TX) during the 2014 Republican Primary.

Ogle graduated from UT Arlington with a degree in architecture and a masters in city and regional planning.

Ogle is currently the director of community relations for Suddenlink Communications, as well as the owner and operator of Skip Ogle Homes in Tyler.

While this might be a big change of pace for Ogle, he's ready to take on the issues many East Texans care about.

Ogle says, "We need to continue to fight for the unborn and always stand on that side of life. I think we need to continue to fight for property rights and I think we need to fight hard to protect our border. Together in east Texas we can work together and take that spirit down to Austin."
