The Texas Department of Public Safety is advising residents to avoid the summer rush at driver license offices across the state by renewing their license or identification card early or online.

Residents who are eligible can skip the trip to the office completely by renewing their license or identification card online - or changing their address - at Texas.gov.

“Summertime is the busiest time of year at our driver license offices with more residents than usual renewing their driver license or identification card,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw. “
