EAST TEXAS-- While the sinking economy may not be good for the American household, some pastors say it's giving local churches a boost in their attendance.
Pastor Donnie Barron of Bullard Southern Baptist Church says,"We have seen that people are attending more regularly. People are coming to church. They're looking to God for answers."
Pastor Barron says more members and more involvement is a trend sweeping across churches in the area. "I've talked to other pastors that are experiencing the same thing. They are either experiencing a growth or experiencing what we are experiencing here: more faithful attendance."
His members are faithful in other areas as well. Pastor Barron also says the offering has increased in the last two years.
Now, there's another trend developing under the steeples: financial classes. Bullard Southern Baptist along with many other churches offer a class to teach families how to manage their finances.
While people inside and outside of churches are looking for answers, some say the sagging economy can be a blessing in disguise.
