Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Small business owner and community volunteer Eleno Licea announced, Tuesday, his intent to run for the Tyler City Council District 4 seat.
"I have spent most of my life in East Texas and all of my adult life in Tyler. I graduated from Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler. I worked at Southside Bank until I decided to start my own insurance agency in 2008. This is a great city, and I am glad to be a part of it," Licea said.
"From the beginning of my career, I have been involved in a number of different civic organizations. I have worked with the Bethesda Health Clinic, Hispanic Business Alliance, Boy Scouts of America and others. I have served on the City of Tyler Planning and Zoning Commission.
I recently completed my term as a trustee on the Board of the Tyler Independent School District. My service as trustee allowed me to see things from the perspective of our students, parents, teachers and administrators and gave me good insight into our local government agencies."
Licea hopes to use his years of business and volunteer experience to serve the citizens of District 4.
Tyler City Council District 4 serves northeast Tyler, including much of the Azalea District. The election will be held in May 2014.
