Tyler , TX (KETK) — "We've told all of our employees to guard your loins because it is small business Saturday and we do expect the big crowds," said small business owner Pam Gabriel. Some businesses are preparing for what they say will be their biggest and busiest day of the year. Small business Saturday will celebrate and support local stores across the nation, and East Texas business owners say shopping small can be big for the community.
"We're very passionate about shopping locally, we believe in it because we believe our economy in East Texas is strong because a lot of people shop locally," said small business owner Dorothy Ferguson.
Not only does this holiday help the economy, but it gives people a unique shopping experience. "Small business is really the personal touch,' said Gabriel. The rush of black friday can be avoided, and shoppers can find the best gifts for their family and friends.
Gabriel, owner of Sweet Gourmet, also says this holiday allows local stores to really help the customers find exactly what they want, and provide gift ideas to those that have a hard time finding something for that particular family member. "Small business Saturday is all about customer service...they want to be talked to they want to be helped, and they want to be hand held and that's what were all about," said Gabriel.
Stores plan on opening early and staying late to make sure east texans have the best small business saturday experience possible.
