In November, Smith County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 voters will decide if they will allow the sale of beer and wine in their district, along with the sale of mixed beverages in restaurants.

The Smith County Commissioners Court approved the measure Tuesday morning. They will join Tyler in allowing the option on the November ballot.

The measure has been debated heavily between the pro-alcohol group Buy Local First Special Purpose Political Action Committee and Stand Strong for Tyler, a group opposing the sale of beer and wine in Tyler.
