UPDATE: Smith Co. deputy injured in accident to be released from hospital

Smith County, Texas (KETK) — A Smith County Deputy was taken to a local hospital after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident Wednesday morning near Lake Palestine.
According to Public Information Officer John Moore, the wreck happened at the intersection of Highway 155 and County Road 344 when the driver of an SUV, Christion Caldwell, rear-ended a deputy, identified as TIm McDonald. He is expected to be treated and released from the hosptial.
McDonald has been with the department for one year.
Caldwell is expected to be cited with failure to maintain speed.
