Smith County clean up program starts today
Tyler, Texas (KETK) — — In an effort to prevent illegal dumping in our area, the Smith Countywide Clean Up Program begins today and ends April 13.
Throughout this two week period, the county will provide vouchers to the public that are good for up to three cubic yards (equivalent to one truck load) of trash and bulky items; per person.
Vouchers are available to pick up at all J.P. offices, Commissioners court, Constable Precinct offices or the Smith County Courthouse Annex.
There is a limit of one voucher per person and commercial businesses may not participate in the voucher program.
The Greenwood Farms Landfill is open from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday and on Saturday from 6:30am to 1 p.m. The vouchers come with a list of items that the Greenwood Farms Landfill; an Allied Waste Company will not take such as: hazardous waste, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, gasoline, oils, paint, acid, batteries, asbestos, freon, whole tires (they will accept but will charge), refrigerators, freezers, televisions and computers.
