What is believed to be the first Smith County grocery store to be approved to sell beer and wine since the General Election will begin stocking shelves Thursday.

Brookshire's Food Store, located on 20100 Highway 155 South in Flint, expects to receive its permit December 20 and to start selling beer and wine for off-site consumption soon.

Since Smith County residents voted yes to Proposition 2 in the November General Election and the results were certified weeks later, Brookshire Food Company has been working with officials to complete the process.

Other stores in Tyler and Smith County are also awaiting approval from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, according to the company. It is unknown when those permits will be approved.
