Smith County, Tx — About 12:15 Thursday afternoon troopers responded to an accident at the intersection of Farm Road 2813 and County Road 128 in Smith County.
Trooper Chad Skidmore tells KETK, "It involved a truck pulling a trailer and a Ford Explorer. The truck pulling the trailer was west bound on Farm Road 2813 and the Ford Explorer was eastbound attempting to turn on a local county road."
According to DPS troopers, the driver of the SUV, Omar Saucedo of Tyler
failed to yield right-of-way to the driver of the oncoming pick up, Scott Pope of Hawkins.
This accident left four injured. The driver of the SUV, Saucedo, was pronounced dead Friday morning.
Nearby residents say they are not shocked this terrible wreck happened.
One resident says, "A lot of people out here don't usually stop either. So I'm expecting a big accident outside of my house."
Some say these small roads seem to have a high accident rate. Smith County Sheriff's Office PIO John Moore says, "Some of these intersections might not be as marked as when you're traveling in the city. When you're in the city you have red lights and things that call your attention more than you do in the county so it's twice as important when you're in the county that you pay attention to on coming traffic.
