Tyler, Texas — Smith County has developed a new, high-tech way to ensure voters are heading to the right polling locations on election day.
If you go to http://www.smith-county.com, they have created new interactive maps for voters convenience.
If you're planing to head to the precincts on November 6, and you're not sure where exactly to go, you can just open up the web page, scan the Q-I code on your smart phone and it will locate where you are and tell you the exact address of the precinct location you need to head to on election day.
EXAMPLE OF A QI SCAN CODE:
Adrienne Hampton, Smith County Public Relations Liaison, says,"You can type in your address, or just click on a map where you live and it will tell you exactly where your precinct is and give you directions from your home."
Or she says, you can pick up your smart phone, "All you have to do is hit the 'I am here button' and it will tell from where you are, where you go to vote."
The new interactive map has features that explain all the voter information you need, such as hours of operation, building information, registration deadlines, what to bring with you, address and a phone number if you have any questions.
Hampton says, if you want to practice voting before you get to the polls, you can even view a sample ballot from your smart phone or computer.
