Smith County searching for suspected shooter

Smith County, TX — Smith County officers tell KETK they are still searching for a man the believe is responsible for shooting his cousin.
The incident happened at a residence on County Road 1113 also known as Lake Placid Road and Highway 155 South Thursday afternoon.
Smith County Sheriff's department got a call at 3:23p.m. Thursday and they were told shots were fired.
When KETK arrived at the scene, Smith County officers were investigating the property where 52 year-old Ricky Taylor was shot.
A witness, Teresa Handy tells KETK, her ex-boyfriend, 29 year-old Rodrick Reece had been arguing with his cousin, Ricky Taylor. She tells KETK, they were drunk and she tried to stop them from arguing.
She says, Reece left the house and came back with a gun and shot taylor in the stomach and left the residence.
Smith Country Sheriff's department tells KETK,
"Our deputies responded, at this time the are conducting a investigation but one person that was involved was taken to a local hospital and is being treated right now," says John Moore, Public Information Officer, Smith County Sheriff's Department.
Smith County Sheriff's Office released a statement to KETK,
They say, an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspected shooter and updates will be released as they become available.

SHOOTING ON CR 1113
On March 7 at 3:23 pm, Smith County Sheriff's Office personnel responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots on CR 1113 near Highway 155.
Sheriff's Office deputies found a man at that location who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The suspected shooter was not found at the scene. The identities of both individuals are not being released pending an investigation.
The man at the scene was transported by ambulance to a Tyler hospital, where he is undergoing assessment and treatment.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspected shooter. Updates will be released as they become available.
