TYLER — The candidates for Smith County Sheriff are debating at Traditions restaurant located at 6205 S Broadway Ave in Tyler.

The debate began at 11:30 a.m.

Candidates for Smith County Sheriff include: Bobby Garmon, Chris Green, Don Rust and Larry Smith.

They all are hoping to be elected to the position left by the current sheriff, JB smith, who will be retiring at the end of his term.

The Texas redistricting maps are still under review, so no primary date has been set.
