In response to President Obama's announcement Wednesday morning regarding his proposals to curb gun violence in America, KETK gathered some local reactions from East Texans.

Smith County Sheriff, Larry Smith says, "Me or my office here will not enforce any unconstitutional act against the citizens of this county. Then end, period!... The 10th amendment, all those laws 'not given to the Federal government are maintained by the state'. The constitution seems like it's just going out the window."

May law enforcement officials across the county are threatening to do the same. Many people believe part of President Obama's proposals were an attack on the second amendment and will not follow his proposals if they are in fact passed by congress.

The ATF and Attorney General Janet Reno massacred 76 men, women and
children over the issue of gun control (using rifles, grenades & even a
tank). Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people (including 19 children) with a
van and fertilizer (no gun necessary). A head case is going to find a way. . .

Oh, I hate to sound like a cliche, but people who are so pro gun control should renounce their citizenship (of this country which they so despise) and go live in another more peaceful one. . . A place where they don't have extremely high black on black violence such as they do in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Atlanta, Oakland etc. They should try one of the Scandinavian countries where minorities are usually only 1 to 2 percent of the population and violence is almost non-existent.

I will stand behind this guy no matter what the GOVERMENT TRIES!!!

Ah yes....Larry Smith, the constitutional scholar....
