The Longview News Journal Reports a controlled burn is causing smoke in northeastern Longview.

Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said developers are clearing land in the area behind Hollywood Theaters on North U.S. 259.

"It’s not a woods fire; they are burning off some lots in certain areas," Zackary said. "The problem is they light it with diesel fuel which is legal, but it puts off a lot of smoke."

The fire should be extinguished by evening.
