Some East Texans in dark on white Christmas

A white Christmas came late for many East Texans, while thousands of others spent a cold, dark holiday after powerful thunderstorms raked the region, toppling trees and knocking down power lines.

AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co. was contending with its second major power outage in a week throughout its three-state region after the storm rumbled through early Christmas morning.
