"Soul Train" creater dies
Hollywood — Don Cornelius, the legendary record producer and creator of "Soul Train" has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Los Angeles Police responded to a 911 call at Cornelius' Sherman Oaks home early this morning.
They confirm that Cornelius, 75, was found with a single gunshot wound.
Cornelius had been in failing health.
He was taken to Ceaders-Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
"Soul Train" ran for more than 30 years and hosted a who's-who lineup of R&B superstars including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Barry White and The Jackson 5.
