TYLER - Sources tell KETK that Joe Murphy, Smith County Assistant District Attorney, was asked to either resign from his position or be fired by head Smith County District Attorney, Matt Bingham last week.  Murphy, who is well known in East Texas for his role in trying the Mineola Swingers Club Cases, has worked at the District Attorney's office for almost 10 years. Two of those cases were reversed last Summer by the 14th Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas.  Sources close to the Smith County DA's office tell KETK that Murphy has left on his own account.

Smith County DA Matt Bingham says he's not commenting on personnel issues at this time.
