The South Tyler Rotary Foundation has announced their 21st annual Spaghetti Supper to be held Thursday, April 18, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., at First Christian Church's Fellowship Hall, 4202 S. Broadway Avenue.

The popular meal includes a huge helping of homemade spaghetti, tossed salad, garlic bread, dessert, and a non-alcoholic beverage. Quite a bargain for $10 per ticket at the door! Dine in or use the convenient carry-out available for those in a hurry or for a terrific no-work dinner.

Sponsorships for $100 are also available.  Those purchasing a sponsorship will have their names on the placemat for the event, be recognized in the Tyler Paper, and receive 10 tickets.

Sponsorships are due by Monday, April 15, 2013.  Contact John Hart at 903/535-9229 (john.hart@tyler.net) to purchase a sponsorship. Or mail your check directly to South Tyler Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 7153, Tyler, Texas 75711.

South Tyler Rotary Club President Stephen Horlander said 50 percent of the funds raised each year are immediately applied to programs and services in the local area and internationally.

The remaining 50 percent are held in the South Tyler Rotary's Foundation for use in future endeavors.

Horlander noted that funds from last year’s supper were used to support nine local non-profit organizations, two international projects, and victims of Hurricane Sandy.  The international projects were a milk project for orphans in Africa and a Tilapia feeding program in Belize.

These international projects were partnership projects with other Rotary Clubs in Tyler and East Texas. As in the past, South Tyler Rotary continues to purchase and build bikes for children in Smith County at Christmas.  Also, in conjunction with the Tyler Fire Department, South Tyler Rotary purchases and installs smoke alarms to Smith County residents unable to afford them.

The goal for this year’s spaghetti supper is to net $25,000.  President-Elect John Hart urges everyone who is looking for a quick, delicious, cheap meal on Thursday, April 18, to stop by First Christian Church.  “Come have a delicious spaghetti supper with your South Tyler Rotarian friends and help us fund next year’s South Tyler Rotary grant awards for deserving local and international non-profit organizations.”
