Special Report: "The Healing Power"

POSTED: Wednesday, February 6, 2013 - 12:39pm

For the devout Christian, there has never been any question, the power of prayer is real.

In fact, studies have shown prayer can prevent people from getting sick. And a study from Duke University proves prayer can heal some even after they become ill.

Here in East Texas,  prayer is all around us. And we've found it works.

Since 2009,  Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church has opened its doors to the public and hosts a "Charismatic Healing Mass."

It's different than a regular healing mass because they emphasize healing and the charismatic gifts, which include wisdom, prophecy and word of knowledge.

It's free. And,  it's simple. You come to be healed.

Lori Harris is one of the directors of the mass. She works alongside Father Timothy Kelly and a prayer team of Protestants and Catholics  to bring this type of mass to East Texas.

To her knowledge, there are only two masses like this nationwide-- here and in Houston.

Prayer requests come from all over the US. And, clergy come in from Texas and Louisiana.

Healing in the name of Jesus is absolutely real. I first attended experienced it after healing mass at St. Mary Magdalene almost a year ago. I went to the mass to pray for a loved one. To my surprise, that night I was healed of a problem in my stomach. The best teacher in the world on this subject is here in Texas. Her name is Joan Hunter, joanhunter dot org. After taking a class with Joan, I prayed for family members and one dying cat, who were healed. This is the truth.

Acts 17:24-" fact God is not too far from any of us; in fact we live & move & exist in Him.'

Miracles happen all the time.
Each day a miracle happens ; that is why we call it the

Turn to GOD......He is closer than our skin.

And if one literally does see just a rock, just as one may literally interpret the text, then the difference between the rock and God is that rocks can be used for good or bad. One can shape a rock into a tool, or into a weapon.

Jimmy Kimmel has a segment on his show called unnecessary censorship. Folks out there just quoting edited verses of the Bible at random in an attempt to manipulate and persuade others to join their agenda kind of remind me of that segment.

Howard you are exactly right! There is very little difference between talking to a rock and praying to God when God is your rock and your salvation.

When you see things literally just Rattatooey appears to by quoting the words of the Bible rather than interpreting and understanding the true meaning of the text, I mean a true scholarly examination and dissection of the text, then I can understand one seeing just a rock.

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for the great coverage. It is not very often people are courageous enough to cover things like prayer, and something positive the Catholic Church may be a part of. Ywam Tyler, and Kerygma Texas are helping so many people find hope and help in this present time. Thank you again. God does heal today. Spirit, soul and body. I've witnessed it as well.

A person might as well talk to a rock as pray to God. He'll get the same result.

What an interesting point of view Howard. I do not know if you talk with rocks, but you probably do. However, you will get an opportunity to speak with God eventually. Good luck with that!
ps: That rock you are talking to, was made by God.

Jennifer Kielman - what a silly proposition.
God offers SALVATION. If you want more than salvation, you want too much. All the "Gifts" of the Spirit (tongues, prophesies, etc.) were replaced by the gift "OF" the Spirit. That means the Spirit of God lives in Christians, no more than that. What deceptive people these religionists are. Self deceived and attempting to deceive others. GGGGRRRR!

There is no miraculous healing in our time. The only scripture to discuss such things is found in
James 5:14-15 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
1 Cor:13 refutes that. Those gifts will be gone. Faith, hope, and love remian. These people are self deceived.

Great Job Jennifer. Thanks for being open to the move of God in your own life! All of the Healing Masses are held at St. Mary Magdalene in Flint on the third Thursday of the month. Be sure to check the website for more information. We love praying for people!
