Special valentines for extra special people

KVNE Christian radio station spent Valentine's day delivering special handmade cards to seniors and children in the hospital.

The love and generosity of East Texans never ceases to amaze people. Over 21,000 valentine cards were handmade with love for those who might not get a valentine otherwise.

'We went into a girl's room and she was 15 and this is a day she would've had her valentines party and she's stuck in a hospital," said Jill Smith with KVNE. "She didn't expect that we were coming and handed her a bag of valentines and she teared up and I was like, 'Oh my gosh what a blessing that people made valentines and she was so touched and so blessed' it was awesome."

From little newborns who have not seen home yet, to teenagers missing their valentine parties, to cancer patients who just want to get out of the hospital, the people KVNE visited were so grateful for their Valentine's day surprise.

"Whenever we do get those people who take the time out to make our time special it's amazing because we spend so much time here at the hospital with our kids that we forget that it is Valentine's day or Christmas or whatever so it means a lot, a whole lot," said Lanell Grogan, mother of Kayla Grogan who has been in and out of the hospital her whole life.
