The debut title in the Anthony Bourdain Books line, The Prophets of Smoked Meat, is touted as a guide to all things Texas barbecue written by “Barbecue Snob” Daniel Vaughn, author of the enormously popular blog Full Custom Gospel BBQ and Texas Monthly BBQ editor. The book, released May 14, is described as "a rollicking journey through the heart of Texas Barbecue" and features an article about Stanley's owner and pitmaster Nick Pencis, as well as a recipe for his famous ribs.

"It made me so happy to find out we were in this book. Barbecue is quite a journey, whether you're cooking it or just in search of this best. And this book offers a great glimpse into the world of Texas Barbecue," said Stanley's owner Nick Pencis. "This is a huge honor and shows the world that Tyler isn't just known for roses anymore. Stop and smell the ribs, too!"

The book is described as a comprehensive, must-have guide to Texas barbecue, including pitmasters' recipes, tales of the road—from country meat markets to roadside stands—and a panoramic look at the Lone Star State, where smoked meat is sacred. "From the science of heat to the alchemy of rubs, from the hill country to the badlands, The Prophets of Smoked Meat takes readers on a pilgrimage to discover the heart and soul of Texas barbecue," according to the publisher.

The book is available on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Target and Wal-Mart.

Stanley's is no stranger to accolades for its fare. Stanley's Famous Pit Barbecue has twice been named one of the 50 best BBQ joints in Texas by Texas Monthly Magazine. They also received the people's choice award for "Best Pork Ribs" at the Texas Monthly BBQ festival in 2010 and 2011. The iconic restaurant helped put Tyler on the map in 2012, when the city was listed in Livability.com's "10 best cities for BBQ." Stanley's was also spotlighted in Food & Wine Magazine's "Best BBQ Cities" feature, as well as on Yahoo Travel last year.
