State representative-elect Trent Ashby defeated incumbent Marva Beck in the Republican primary in May. He ran unopposed in Tuesday’s general election, but Ashby said that actually signaled the official end of the campaign for him. Amid the photographs of his family, diplomas, mementos and numerous documents on the desk in his office at Community Title in Lufkin, Ashby has started the transition toward becoming a state representative and preparing for the upcoming Texas legislative session.

“I’m honored to have this opportunity to serve the residents of House District 57,” Ashby said. “Having the election formally behind me, there is a sense of finality to the campaigning process. Now I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and going to work for the people of East Texas in Austin.”
