Stay hydrated this Summer

Summertime is when people enjoy spending time in the sun and getting in shape, but they forget how important it is to stay hydrated.

Experts say you need to drink enough water to balance with the amount of water you sweat out.

Drinking water is not only for when you are working out, but for when you are hanging out too. KETK spoke with exercise specialist, Cassie Ebert, from ETMC about how important water is for your health.

Ebert said that whether you are exercising or not, water helps regulate your body and keeps your bodily functions working properly. 

However, if you are exercising, your body requires much more than the daily suggested eight glasses of eight fluid ounces of water.  Physical trainer, Brad Chesley told KETK that people need to drink, "at a minimum.....half your body weight in fluid ounces, so if you are a 200lb male you would drink 100oz of water."

Water not only keeps you hydrated, but keeps you awake, alert, and attentive!  Ebert told KETK that when you are dehydrated, your blood pressure drops which makes you lethargic and have difficulty concentrating.

Since water clears out toxins in your body, drinking water throughout the day will help you not only feel good, but look good too!

Be sure to drink lots of water this Summer to make sure you don't get dehydrated and tired and miss out on all the fun activities this time of year.
