Stolen property leads to car chase, shooting in Angelina County
ANGELINA COUNTY, TEXAS (KETK) — Three people are being questioned Wednesday for an alleged shooting in the Lufkin area. Officials with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office tell KETK it happened just off Highway 59 on Winston 8 Ranch Road, north of Lufkin.
Authorities say the incident involved stolen property. Andrew Jackson Netherton, 30, is accused of taking property from Benjmin Bogamy, 30, and reselling the items to one of Bogamy's friends.
After finding out Netherton had stolen his property, he spotted him driving on Winston 8 Ranch Road with a passenger, 24-year-old Destini Ehanee Williams. Bogamy jumped in his vehicle and chased them until their vehicle wrecked in a pasture.
Bogamy then got out of his car and started shooting at both people inside the wrecked automobile. Netherton, who allegedly was also in possession of a gun, began returning fire. Eventually, both men ran out of bullets.
Following the shootout, Bogamy pulled Netherton from his vehicle and began beating him.
When the Angelina County Sheriff's Department arrived, they found guns, drugs and scales.
No one was suffered a major injury in this incident.
All three are being questioned, but no charges have been filed at this time.
