Study finds possible bias in high school math teachers

AUSTIN, Texas — It's a persistent stereotype that girls aren't as good at math as boys are. Now a study by a University of Texas sociologist shows that high school math teachers perceive their white, female students to be less adept at the subject even when the girls' test scores and grades are comparable to white boys'.
