Numbers from a study of both on-the-ground tree health assessments collected during a three-month period

The Lufkin Daily News is reporting; about 301 million trees — about 6.2 percent of trees statewide — were killed as a result of last summer’s devastating drought, a Texas A&M Forest Service survey of hundreds of forested plots across the state showed.
