TYLER - On a hot day not many want a warm drink. Our natural inclination is, we want something cool. One expert we spoke with says something warm, may cool you off faster.

"It's going to envoke sweating through the body, tempeture rising which then cools the body."

Experts say as the body heats, up it's natural counter balance is to sweat and cooler drinks seem to do the opposite.

"Really cold beverages causes the stomach to actually shrink so that lessens absorption."

In fact, that cold drink may keep you warm.

"So if your drinking cold water would if be safe to say that if your body had to work to heat up the water, that it could make the body warmer?" "yes, temporarily yes."

Experts say it's not just cold water or hot water that is the best. They say the best for you is actually room tempeture water straight from the tap.

They say the the reason room tempeture water is best, is because the body doesn't have to work to heat up or cool down what ever you might be drinking.
Despite the news, some East Texans I spoke with told me they are not sold on this theory at all.

"Well I'm not going to try it."

"I say if it's a 102 degrees outside and you want to drink hot water go for it."
