Rosen's comments spark debate with East Texans

The Obama administration and its supporters are wasting no time in condemning Hilary Rosen's criticism of Ann Romney for not having "worked a day in her life."

Romney: a stay at home mom raised 5 boys.  East Texans talk-back on Rosen's comments and the difficulties of both working women and stay at home moms.

Rosen's comments were right on re: Ann Romney...I totally agree with anyone who points out she never HAD to work, she probably had outside help along the way, she had wealth that could afford her the opportunity to stay home...sure, raising 5 sons is a challenge, but without any financial worries whatsoever, anyone could pull in needed resources at any time to help...Mrs. Romney...a woman who's husband is building her an elevator for her cars in their new mansion needs to keep her mouth shut!

A tougher or easier job? AN ELEVATOR FOR YOUR CAR? AS FOr the job who can judge mt wife worked as a head nurse for 23 years and cleaned, cooked, and generally made sure our family was given the best of care, without any appreciation showh to her then she went to be with JESUS in paridise. I know therre is a place for both and both work hard to raise both kids and husbands. without any praise.

And if you have a brand new cadillac and an elevator for it makes no differance except to the envious

This is sounding more and more like envy, or resentment for those who have accumulated wealth. It doesn't appear that this has anything to do with gender, but is just a re-worked approach to division politics.

No Mommy Wars. None. The media needs to stop it.
I think that a better way to have phrased the comment was to mention that the Romneys, being extremely wealthy, are in an very priviledged position. Most SAHM do not have the priviledge of being so wealthy. I mean, they are gazillionaires. Neither one of them one of them has had to worry about paying the electric bill vs. making a car payment, how to make $20 stretch to the next paycheck, etc. Neither of the Romneys has had to scrimp by- ever.

the reality is this war on women is being brought on by other women! play nice, and support eachother as mothers, regardless of differences. I think as women, we want there to be this extravagant difference in working moms vs stay at home moms. It helps us justify the lifestyle we’ve chosen. After all, what’s the point in “sacrificing” an income, a life, a career, to stay at home with your kids, if the outcome for your family is going to be the same as a mom who didn’t make such sacrifices?
Work

I was lucky enough to be able to have great parents that helped me raise my son.

I don't think that you can compair the two. I worked on an ambulance at the time my son was growing up. Every time I went to work, I felt guilty leaving him. I had full custody of my son and you do what you have to, to be able to take care of your child. There were times that I didn't see him because of the long hour's and that made more difficult.
