You think the country is better off as a whole since President's economic policies?

When GOP frontrunners aren't chewing on one another, they're aiming their electability over President Obama's handeling of the economy.

Do you think the country is better or worse-off after the president's economic initiatives were put into effect?

East Texans talk-back on the question to our news partner: KTBB and host Garrth Maier.

don, So less taxes for you is a good thing. But less taxes for anyone who has more money than you is unfair?

As I have stated in every one of my post, anyone who has money should pay the same % rate an all of their income that I pay. The FACT that they don't is unfair !!

You're right. the FACT the wealthy don't pay the same in payroll taxes is not fair. The top 20% of income earners pay about 34% of their income in federal taxes. The median income earners like us only pay about 15% or less. So let's raise taxes on the bottom 60% income earners to make it more fair. Oh! and to be clear, Capital Gains Tax is a tax on money left over after all other taxes including corp. and personal income have been paid. It's called double taxation.

I don't know where you get 15% I pay 21% each month on my earned income which is a lot more than the 13.9% that Mitt pays.

Is capital gains subject to income tax?

If you make one hundred dollars, pay 20% in tax and put the rest in the bank, should you then pay 20% tax again on the interest that 80 dollars makes?

If I do, so should they. Those who make more than $106,800.00 do not pay any payroll taxes on the $ they earn over that figure. In other words a person who earns a billion pays the same amount of payroll tax that someone who earns $106,800.00, not fair by any standard. The money that I have in my roth account, 401K, CDs and bonds has either already been taxed or will be taxed. EVERY PENNY, SO SHOULD EVERY PENNY OF CAPITAL GAINS INCOME.

As the top 1% want to include every tax they pay beside the income taxes, I also pay property taxes, gas taxes, sales taxes, royalty taxes, tobacco taxes on top of the Payroll Taxes, Medicare Taxes and Income Taxes. SO PAY YOUR FAIR % SHARE ON ALL OF YOUR INCOME AND STOP CRYING.

yes i am better off, paying less taxes with more $ on my check even though my greedy employer has not given my co workers and I any type of increase in wages. The nations credit rating was down graded because the House Republicans would not vote to pay our bills unless the rich received another tax cut futher driving our debt up and it was the bush give away to wall street without any oversight that cost us 790 billion just before obama took office. Lets state the truth jp

We have less freedom and more government. Just like the end of Bush's term.

Our credit rating is slightly worse and our dollar is significantly worse and the recovery has been greatly prolonged. His version of the Bush stimulus plan has only benefitted Wall St. and paid off union leaderships. So yes, the country is worse off than before.
