no, even people who can not read can enter the gates of heaven
I heard the Bible is the "how to' manual from GOD; therefore it stands to reason the reading iof it is an instruction thereto. How COULD a person interested in what God has to say MISS reading it?
Although a lot of persons use it to justify their own thinking. But when you mess up your own life...better go back to the directions.Start from the beginning again!!!! The truth will set you free....but 1st it hurts like heck. Lots of people can't stand it so they twist it for their own purposes.
Given the absurd interpretations most people in this area get from their unlettered, barely literate, reading of the bible it would probably be better if they didn't.
I suspect the traditional doctrine of the Catholic church is correct. The common man is not smart enough to understand the complexities of the bible and should leave interpretation of it to educated people, to wit, the priesthood.
Simply put, the answer is yes.
