District says classroom time should be reserved for learning
Tyler —
The Fort Worth school district says there is a time and a place for Christmas cheer and it's not during class time.
Fort Worth ISD officials said the district cannot endorse or sponsor any religious activity or doctrine. Even the "passing around of cards" or the "subtle exhange of stocking stuffers" at school.
They say classroom time should be reserved for learning and the district doesn't want to alienate non-christian students.

They are probably just trying to prepare the students for the new Star test mandated by the Texas legislature. Schools don't have time for anything but test preparation, and you can thank Texas state lawmakers, especially the Republicans, for that. Some of us would prefer more local control and less high-stakes testing mandated by the lawmakers. BTW, the lege isn't as interested in "accountability" as they are appeasing the Sandy Kress/Pearson testing mighty-mighty lobbying efforts.
