TYLER — It was a big question from Tuesday night's presidential debate, "Will manufacturing jobs ever return to the U.S.?"
Mitt Romney says yes, President Obama, says no.
KTBB's Garth Maier asks East Texans what they think.

It does seem unlikely when other countries pay so little. China has virtual slave labor little job place safety like the U.S. and apparently no enviromental concerns. Not to say we should get rid of such laws, these add a lot to costs. They can also improve productivity. We can get those back if we offer quality, cut costs by rising productivity, and offer goods not available elsewhere.
Yep..."good" business for over-paid CEO's in their fancy penthouse offices..."good" business for greedy investors interested only in the bottom line and their dividend checks...the pride workers in all sectors of manufacturing once had when they put the "Made In America" label on something made with quality and durability is gone because of these "good" practices. I would gladly pay more for something my countryman/woman produced than something made by a $.97/hour factory worker in China!!
That is right EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD BE PATRIOTIC AND WORK FOR .95 CENTS AN HOUR EXCEPT FOR THE CEOs. No these American corporations who move the manufacturing portion of the business to foreign countrie for .97 cent per hour labor & wants to sell their products in the USA where they make almost all of their profits should be more patriotic. LETS PUT TARIFF ON ALL FOREIGN MADE PRODUCTS & WATCH THE JOBS COME BACK. "FAIR TRADE NOT FREE TRADE"
I talked to several business owners who make manufactured products. They agreed that the "low paid" assembly jobs will not return because Min wage here is about $8 while in India/China/ Thai/ etc it is .97 Cents.
Co. are in business to make money....not for any other reason, therefore it is a "good" business decision.Forbes said last Fall that if the USA wage goes up again that it would drive all the auto Co. off shoreNOW.
What can USA sell that will produce NEW co.???? Think out of the box!!
