Majority says republicans favor the wealthy

A Times survey found the majority of people interviewed said the republican party is in favor of "the rich."

An age old debate, fueled by a paper many would argue is left-leaning. East Texans asked to respond to the same question.

They talk-back to our news partner: KTBB and host Garth Maier.

Both the Republican Party and the Democrat Party are for the rich. They are both pro war, and both want to meddle in our personal lives.

Both parties hand out political favors to benefit their donors. The only differences are the donors.

teavangeliclal/repub/libertarian candidates curry the favor of wealthy political campaign donor corporations and individuals...and it stands to reason that those deep-pocketed donors will expect something in return down the road. Posters who fall into the middle class must have concrete for brains to back these fools because if any one of them got into office you're the one's with the bullseye painted on your forehead...do you think they're going to make their wealthy base mad? Not hardly!!

Just how does the Republican party serve the middle class and poor? I'd really like to see a cogent explanation of what policies they advocate that assist the middle class and poor. Let's see, they want to de-fund Planned Parenthood which is the only doctor most poor women go to. And am I just imagining that the tax cuts they so favor are for the wealthiest of citizens? What about the unfair federal sentencing policies regarding crack vs powder cocaine that the Dems partially dismanted?

Just because it's the perception doesn't make it fact. This is something that has been hammered at us for decades. But Hollywood vote mostly Democrat as does Wall Street. Until Kennedy's death 8 of the 10 wealthiest Senators were Democrats. It's like saying Democrats are for the poor. In a way it's true, they have a vested interest in keeping minorities and seniors poor and uneducated so they have a ready voting bloc that is dumb enough to buy the lie that Democrats care about them.

Yes, the Republican party serves the wealthy. They are able to attract middle-class "values" voters by claiming to be against gays and abortion. No matter what question was asked during the Republican debates, the answer was always "I'm against abortion" or "Gays should not be allowed to marry". By stirring up the base re: gays and reproductive rights, wealthy Republicans such as the Koch brothers and Grover Norquist just do what they want--promote self-serving economic policies.

It's a myth that the Democrat party favors the poor while the Republican party favors the rich. This can't be further from the truth. Since only 50% of the people in the US works today & pays into the system, the congress really needs to watch where all our moneys are being spent. It is the responsibility of both parties to see that taxpayers money is not wasted or spent needlessly therefore breaking the country. Democrats are overspending & getting us & our children more & more debt.

Left leaning newspaper? Pul-eeze! Why doesn't KETK describe themselves as RIGHT LEANING (they are, you know). So does "left leaning" TRUTHINESS mean it's no less correct? And it IS of and for the rich--the GOP knows though that they have to scare the poor, working class folks into believing their (and right right right tilted Fox News--and all three of our local stations) "message"--which is: get rid of that black man in the White House.
