Yes, we should all pay the same rate. However, that's against everything the Dems stand for. If the wealthy paid the same rates as the poor, Dems would screen to the rafters it's not fair. Look to '96 election and the reactions to the Forbes' flat tax proposal.

We should all pay the same rate, but we should only pay it once. What I do with my paycheck after taxes should be none of the government's business. If I gamble and loose, I don't get a refund. So why would I owe extra if I gamble and win?

Buffett CHOOSES to be paid in stock in stead of getting a salary. This subjects him to the lower capital gains (double tax) rate which is perfectly legal. But he could CHOOSE to take a salary and pay the higher rate. But then he couldn't lecture us.
