Educator conceived child out of wedlock, School fired her

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday reversed a judge's ruling that dismissed Jarretta Hamilton's lawsuit against Southland Christian School in St. Cloud.

Hamilton was teaching at the nondenominational school in 2009 when she married Samuel Treftz. About two months later, she and her husband met with principal Jon Ennis to request maternity leave.

During the meeting, Hamilton told Ennis the baby was conceived before the two were married. Hamilton was fired a short time later.

Men and women in Salem believed that all the misfortunes were attributed to the work of the devil; when things like infant death, crop failures or friction among the congregation occurred. This sounds like the right wing T-Party/ Republican right wing religious extremismof today!!

salem, Mass. 1692? The era is one of the most famous cases of mass hysteria, and has been used in political rhetoric and popular literature as a vivid cautionary tale about the dangers of isolationism, religious extremism, false accusations and lapses in due process The Church nor the Government has a right to tell anyone who they can have sex with or when. Last I checked this is still a free Nation.

So by your argument, it's okay teachers are having sex with their students even during school hours?

NO, there are common sense laws on the books to protect children which we all agree are needed but to compair this situation of an adult having sex with another adult is just pure stupidity. If you are a true Christian, you would know that Jesus Christ does not want his teachings and values FORCED UPON any of GODS children and we are all GODS children. As a Christian it is my duty to inform non Christians and back sliders of what Jesus has done at the Cross and allow them to chose him. NO FORCE

jp, I guess I should have used a better choice of words such as, a man and a woman.for those of you without common sense and child like minds.

I believe this woman knew and understood the school policy for which she was dismissed. So why is this discussion taking place? At my last place of employment, there was a VERY CLEAR dress code. No one broke that code, but I imagine that violations would have ended up in some disciplinary action. The disciplinary action for this teacher's violation was plain and clear. Tell her to shut up and move on. It is quite refreshing (if unpopular) to see an organization upholding moral codes of conduct.

Finally; something we agree on!!
