"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help."

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help." Words from President Obma at a recent speech in virginia.

Both campaigns talking about his words and so is most of the country. East Texans join-in on the conversation and the question:  Does the federal government help or hinder U.S. businesses?

Yes Someone helped all successful people. Parents, 2nd grade teacher, friend, spouse, neighbor...the list could go on forever. What I believe the POTUS is trying to do is break us up into groups and have us pitted against one another. It's called class warfare. Exactly what is OWS but a class warfare organization?
Since when is success and/or wealth something to be demonized in America? Karl Marx did just that in Russia and communism went on to kill 100 million people...and counting.

If we minimize the roll that hard work, long hours, and sacrifice plays in the success of a person, we can better justify forcing the successful into sharing the fruits of their work with those who won't make the same commitments.

The POTUS did NOT say "If you were successful, the federal government gave you some help" but as you quoted the POTUS this is what he said and it is a FACT of life, "If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help." They had help somewhere along the way from someone, some business, some bank, some teacher, some school some government program, some family member or some mentor.....that is a FACT of life
