Facing an unprecedented budget shortfall, some lawmakers are questioning whether public schools spend too much on administration - or, more specifically, administrator pay. Atop that list are Texas' superintendents, paid on average about $108,000 a year.

At least two dozen are paid more than $250,000. East Texans talk-back on a super's worth with our news partner: KTBB and host Garth Maier.

Hey Don-O,
I think you are so cute-.
Here you are calling all of us guys to argue with you. Are you lonely???

It is Christmas time.
Are you being beneficial.????
Don't we all love you!!!

They are way overpaid and there are far too many of them. The position is costing Lindale ISD taxpayers over $325,000 per year for the Superintendent and a Deputy and an Assistant. They aren't worth half that much, and they work only about 2/3 of the year.

CHARLES, IF YOU DID NOT NOTICE, IN THE LAST ELECTION IT SHOWED THAT THERE ARE FEWER OF YOU COMMUNIST IN AMERICA THAN YOU THINK.

Where are you Charles, JP, Sparrow, Old Turkey, Republicans, T-Partiers? Why aren't you on here telling use how sorry these public employees are and deserve to lose their jobs to cuts, lower their pay and lose their pensions.
Why don't you bad mouth public servents now like the police, fire fighters Teachers, Correctional Officers all who risk their lives for the public every day to keep YOU safe. DO NOT BE A BUNCH OF COWARDS NOW.

Don, you have overestimated your self worth for too long. Many people perform duties vital to the public welfare who don't get the lush pension that you do. You think you're a hero and deserving of the theft you inflict on your taxpaying neighbor Only a socialist slimebag thinks they are deserving of a free living.

Charles,You are too much of a coward to do the job of a government worker (military, police, fireman, correctional officer, TEACHER).

School Superintendents should be dispensed with immediately. I have never seen any one of them improve the academic performance of students at any time. I have seen them spending 100's of thousands of dollars on superfluous projects: ie: astro turf playing fields, new baseball facilities, and other sporting activities, none of which do anything for student performance. And actually, most of them are so far removed from hands-on education, they hardly know the people involved in teaching.
