TYLER — Some African American clergy, seeing no good presidential choice between Mitt Romney, a Mormon, and President Obama, the one who supports gay marriage.
They're telling their congregation, on election day stay home and don't vote.
KTBB's Garth Maier asks: Based on your religious views, who are you going to vote for president?

Any church or organized religious group that crosses that "separation of church and state" rule, it's time to remove them from tax-exempt status.
Any religion that campaigns or influences government, they are violating the IRS laws on tax-exempt status.
When ALL churches start paying sales tax, school taxes, income taxes...they can campaign from the pulpit. The revenue windfall from taxing churches could substantially knock down national debt-including $10.2 Tril spent under religious right.
John Boehner says Obama engaged in a spending binge that rang up a $16-trillion debt
If you include all growth in the national debt under the Obama administration, it’s roughly $5.4 trillion, not $16 trillion. The administration inherited a national debt of more than $10 trillion when it came into office. But Boehner’s claim saddles the administration with responsibility for all of the $16 trillion. Statement is False

Wow! Like the prior comments. I never have understood why Christians are so enamored with a Mormon, bellicose, unsympathetic Republican when biblical teachings say "blessed are the peacemakers," "honor thy father and they mother" (medicare, social security), "blessed are the poor, ... blessed are the hungry" and "do not gather gleanings" (leave some for the poor), "Render unto Ceasar" (pay your taxes), etc. Re: gays - are they not human entitled to human rights? Jesus is a liberal!
If you want religion in your government move to the middle east. Everyone can see what happens when religion dictates government policy throughout the middle east. There are extreamist in every religion including Christianity.
Correct...if you want religion dictating civil government, either move to the middle east or East Texas. Both have been held back in progressing forward by representing all the people in the region.
The last time in America we had religion dictating civil laws, we were burning women at the stake yelling "witches". Do we really need to go back there, again?
Rather than endorsing a particular candidate, if any church is, in effect, politicizing the election in any way, they should lose their tax exemption...but I doubt that a majority, or even a few of these churches are, in fact, preaching such a thing from the pulpit on Sunday morning. It would seem, instead, that a majority of proud African Americans would want to vote, and especially vote for someone who is on their side...who cares about health, economic and educational issues. OBAMA 11/6/12.
